2020 Schedule of the three major festivals of Shiranuka Ainu

42nd Hometown Icharupa Festival (Commemorative ceremony): August 1 (Saturday)
25th Humpe Icharupa Festival (Whale Festival): September 5 (Saturday)
41st Shishamo Festival (for safety at sea and a good catch): November 7 (Saturday)

Notes:
- From year 2020 onwards, the festivals will be held on the first Saturday of the corresponding month.
- Each festival starts at 1 p.m. with the “kamuy-nomi” (prayer to the God of fire) performed at Ureshipa Chise, before heading to the related traditional place for rituals and votive dances.
- The events may be cancelled or postponed, depending on COVID-19 evolution.
